March 2010 Letter from Fermin Olivera

Dear Friend:

Since taking the position of Program Director last October, I have had the privilege of meeting many of the sponsors and volunteers who allow PathLight to continue its work. More and more, I feel truly blessed to be a part of something so special. I have seen PathLight students grow spiritually and emotionally, and I've seen their commitment to work hard.

Throughout the school year I have seen a change in their self confidence and their willingness to take on challenges, and it is a delight to witness this transformation. I want to personally thank all of you for giving the most deserving Belizean children an opportunity for an education and hope for life beyond poverty. And the students' parents are so thankful for your help.

Having worked in a government where promises were not always kept, I was a bit like the apostle Thomas at first; I needed to see proof before accepting that this could really make a difference. But after 5 months with PathLight, I am profoundly encouraged by what I have seen. Thank you so much for your support and your prayers ... your contributions are truly making a difference.
